## Quality Land 2026: our first conference brought the signal to Vilnius

On May 6, 2026, Quality Land — our first community-driven software testing conference — became real in Vilnius. The idea behind it was simple: create a space where strong technical content and genuine human connection could exist side by side.
That is exactly what filled the rooms. Not polished buzzwords or empty trends, but curiosity, critical thinking, openness, and a real willingness to learn from one another. QA teams attended together, new connections formed, and the conversations kept going long after the talks ended — moving naturally from AI and automation to leadership, trust, security, failure, and the human side of quality.
The day brought together an outstanding line-up of speakers: Szilard Szell, Sebastian Małyska, Olivier Denoo, Kari Kakkonen, Nikolaj Tolkačiov, Joel Oliveira, Dr. Klaudia Dussa-Zieger, Richard Seidl, Dr. Lovelesh Beeharry, Nishan Portoyan, Michaël Pilaeten, Gabrielė Motiejūnienė and Deividas Ambrazevičius.

## First ISTQB® CTAL-TM Advanced Test Management training delivered in Lithuania

From 6–9 October 2025, LTSTQB organised a four-day intensive ISTQB® CTAL-TM (Advanced Level Test Management) course in Vilnius, led by professional trainer Zsolt Hargitai from Budapest, Hungary.
The course gave test leads, QA managers and senior testers a structured framework for managing testing in complex projects — advanced techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling test activities, and solid preparation for the ISTQB® CTAL-TM exam.
This marks the first CTAL-TM training organised by LTSTQB — an important milestone in bringing advanced-level education to our region. The training was delivered in cooperation with A4Q – Alliance for Qualification.
Our sincere thanks to Zsolt Hargitai for his expertise, commitment and high-quality delivery, and congratulations to all participants who completed the Advanced Test Manager course.

## automateIT: LTSTQB's first community meetup draws 150 testers

The automateIT meetup is over, but the warm feelings remain. It wasn't just an event — it was a rewarding moment to witness Lithuania's testing community come together.
This was our very first meetup, and 150 of you showed up. From the very first moments, it felt like a huge community. The stage brought together international speakers — Nishan Portoyan, Lovelesh Beeharry, Joel Oliveira, Povilas Balanda and Zsolt Hargitai — along with a panel discussion on women in testing, moderated by Debbie Archer with organiser Atefe Abouata Amlashi and panelists Gabrielė Motiejūnienė, Svitlana Makarova and Simona Jurkuvienė.
A huge thank you to our volunteers and organisers, our speakers, and our sponsors and partners — automateIT, Zenitech, TestDevLab and INSOFT — for the venue, the food and all the little extras that made the day so enjoyable.
This was only the beginning. The next milestone is already on the horizon: the Quality Land conference. Stay tuned.

ISTQB® has just passed a milestone the testing community can be proud of: over one million certifications issued across more than 130 countries. That's a million testers, engineers and managers who now share the same vocabulary, the same baseline of testing knowledge and the same recognised standard.
What this means for Lithuania
For Lithuania's testing community, the milestone is more than a number — it's proof that the certification scheme works. Every certified tester in Vilnius, Kaunas or anywhere else in the country can move between projects, companies and borders knowing that "what good testing looks like" is the same conversation everywhere.
Where to start
If you haven't yet started your ISTQB® journey, the Foundation Level certification is the right first step. From there, advanced and specialist tracks open up — from Test Automation Engineering to Security Testing.

Two ISTQB® automation certifications often get confused: CT-TAE (Test Automation Engineering) and CT-TAS (Test Automation Strategy). They overlap, but they answer different questions.
CT-TAE — how to build it
CT-TAE is the hands-on engineering certification. It covers the architecture of automation frameworks, choosing tools, integrating with CI/CD pipelines and writing maintainable test code. If you write or review automation code, this is the certification for you.
CT-TAS — when and why to build it
CT-TAS sits one level up: how do you decide what to automate, how do you measure ROI, how do you avoid automating yourself into a corner? It's aimed at test leads, automation architects and engineering managers who own the strategy, not the framework code.
In practice
Most senior automation engineers eventually take both — CT-TAE first to prove the engineering, CT-TAS later to prove the judgement.

## ISTQB® Add-On Practical Tester by A4Q: key facts you should know

The Add-On Practical Tester certification, developed by A4Q in cooperation with ISTQB®, takes the theory of Foundation Level and grounds it in concrete daily practice.
What's in scope:

writing and reviewing test cases against real requirements
exploratory testing techniques that hold up under audit
bug reports that developers actually read
working with test data and environments

It's a sensible second step after CTFL 4.0 for testers who want to sharpen day-to-day execution before moving into Advanced Level material. Exams are delivered through iSQI in the same formats as other ISTQB® exams.

## ISTQB® launches new Security Testing certification: CT-STE

ISTQB® has released CT-STE — Certified Tester Security Testing Engineer, a specialist-level certification focused on testing for security vulnerabilities without requiring you to become a full-time penetration tester.
The syllabus covers:

threat modelling for testers
security test design and risk-based testing
common vulnerability classes (OWASP Top 10, CWE)
collaboration with developers, security engineers and operations
regulatory awareness (GDPR, NIS2)

CT-STE replaces and extends the previous Security Tester certification. If you already hold the older version, A4Q and iSQI will publish a transition path later this year.

## 11 ISTQB® certifications in 6 years: Sergej's journey

Six years ago Sergej passed Foundation Level "to see what the fuss was about". Today he holds eleven ISTQB® certifications spanning Foundation, Advanced and a stack of Specialist tracks.
We asked him three questions.
What's the one you tell everyone to take? Foundation Level. "It's not the hardest, but it shifts how you talk about testing. Everything after that builds on it."
Where did you lose the most time? Trying to cram two Advanced tracks in the same month. "Pick one, finish it, breathe, then pick the next. Burnout costs more than retake fees."
What would you skip? "Honestly, none of them — but I'd reorder. Take a Specialist between Advanced tracks. It keeps the pace varied and the brain fresh."

## Quality Land 2026: pirmoji mūsų konferencija atnešė signalą į Vilnių

2026 m. gegužės 6 d. Vilniuje įvyko Quality Land — pirmoji mūsų bendruomenės kuriama programinės įrangos testavimo konferencija. Idėja buvo paprasta: sukurti erdvę, kurioje stiprus techninis turinys ir tikras žmogiškas ryšys galėtų egzistuoti greta.
Būtent tai ir pripildė sales. Ne nublizginti šūkiai ar tušti trendai, o smalsumas, kritinis mąstymas, atvirumas ir tikras noras mokytis vieniems iš kitų. QA komandos dalyvavo kartu, užsimezgė nauji ryšiai, o pokalbiai tęsėsi dar ilgai po pranešimų — natūraliai pereidami nuo dirbtinio intelekto ir automatizavimo prie lyderystės, pasitikėjimo, saugumo, nesėkmių ir žmogiškosios kokybės pusės.

2025 m. spalio 6–9 d. LTSTQB Vilniuje surengė keturių dienų intensyvius ISTQB® CTAL-TM (Advanced Level Test Management) mokymus, kuriuos vedė profesionalus lektorius Zsolt Hargitai iš Budapešto (Vengrija).
Mokymai suteikė testavimo vadovams, QA vadovams ir patyrusiems testuotojams struktūruotą sistemą testavimui sudėtinguose projektuose valdyti — pažangias planavimo, stebėjimo ir kontrolės technikas bei tvirtą pasiruošimą ISTQB® CTAL-TM egzaminui.
Tai pirmieji LTSTQB organizuoti CTAL-TM mokymai — svarbus žingsnis pažangaus lygio žinių sklaidai mūsų regione. Mokymai surengti bendradarbiaujant su A4Q – Alliance for Qualification.

## automateIT: pirmasis LTSTQB bendruomenės susitikimas subūrė 150 testuotojų

automateIT meetup'as baigėsi, bet šiltas jausmas išliko. Tai buvo ne tik renginys — tai buvo proga pamatyti, kaip Lietuvos testavimo bendruomenė susiburia kartu.
Tai buvo mūsų pirmasis meetup'as, ir jūsų atėjo 150. Nuo pat pirmų akimirkų jautėsi, kad tai didžiulė bendruomenė. Scenoje pasirodė tarptautiniai pranešėjai — Nishan Portoyan, Lovelesh Beeharry, Joel Oliveira, Povilas Balanda ir Zsolt Hargitai — bei vyko diskusija apie moteris testavime, kurią moderavo Debbie Archer kartu su organizatore Atefe Abouata Amlashi ir dalyvėmis Gabriele Motiejūniene, Svitlana Makarova ir Simona Jurkuviene.
Didelis ačiū mūsų savanoriams ir organizatoriams, pranešėjams bei rėmėjams ir partneriams — automateIT, Zenitech, TestDevLab ir INSOFT — už erdvę, maistą ir visas smulkmenas, padariusias šią dieną tokią malonią.

## CT-TAE prieš CT-TAS — automatizavimo dvikova ar galingas duetas?

Du ISTQB® automatizavimo sertifikatai dažnai painiojami: CT-TAE (Test Automation Engineering) ir CT-TAS (Test Automation Strategy). Jie persidengia, bet atsako į skirtingus klausimus.
CT-TAE — kaip statyti
CT-TAE yra praktinis inžinerijos sertifikatas. Jis apima automatizavimo karkasų architektūrą, įrankių pasirinkimą, integraciją su CI/CD ir tvarkomo testavimo kodo rašymą. Jei rašote ar peržiūrite automatizavimo kodą, šis sertifikatas jums.
CT-TAS — kada ir kodėl statyti
CT-TAS yra viena pakopa aukščiau: kaip nuspręsti, ką automatizuoti, kaip matuoti grąžą, kaip neužsiautomatizuoti į kampą? Jis skirtas testavimo vadovams, automatizavimo architektams ir inžinerijos vadovams, valdantiems strategiją, o ne karkaso kodą.
Praktiškai
Daugiausia patyrusių automatizavimo inžinierių galiausiai laiko abu — CT-TAE pirmiausia inžinerijai įrodyti, CT-TAS vėliau sprendimų gebėjimui įrodyti.

## ISTQB® Practical Tester (A4Q): ką reikia žinoti

ISTQB® išleido CT-STE — Certified Tester Security Testing Engineer, specialisto lygio sertifikatą, skirtą saugumo pažeidžiamumų testavimui, nereikalaujantį tapti pilno laiko įsilaužimo testuotoju.
Mokymo programa apima:

grėsmių modeliavimą testuotojams
saugumo testų projektavimą ir rizika pagrįstą testavimą
įprastas pažeidžiamumų klases (OWASP Top 10, CWE)
bendradarbiavimą su kūrėjais, saugumo inžinieriais ir operacijomis
reguliavimo žinojimą (GDPR, NIS2)

CT-STE pakeičia ir išplečia ankstesnį Security Tester sertifikatą. Jei jau turite senesnę versiją, A4Q ir iSQI vėliau šiais metais paskelbs perėjimo kelią.

## 11 ISTQB® sertifikatų per 6 metus: Sergejaus istorija

Prieš šešis metus Sergejus išlaikė Foundation Level „norėdamas pamatyti, dėl ko visas triukšmas". Šiandien jis turi vienuolika ISTQB® sertifikatų, apimančių Foundation, Advanced ir krūvą Specialist krypčių.

Kur praradai daugiausia laiko? Bandydamas susikrauti du Advanced krypčių per tą patį mėnesį. „Pasirink vieną, baik, kvėpuok, tada pasirink kitą. Perdegimas kainuoja daugiau nei perlaikymo mokesčiai."
Ką praleistum? „Sąžiningai, nė vieno — bet pakeisčiau tvarką. Imčiau Specialist tarp Advanced krypčių. Tai išlaiko tempą įvairesnį ir smegenis šviežias."
